Rosie Mew, Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist
“I honestly love my job. I am passionate about Sports Medicine, not only because of its effectiveness to rehabilitate a client back to sport, but also because of its important role in pain and injury prevention.”
Rosie qualified 12 years ago from The Royal London Hospital in 1996 and has remained in London ever since. She worked initially in the NHS before moving to the Private Sector. Rosie has a Masters in Musculoskeletal Manipulative Physiotherapy from University College London, is Acupuncture trained, a Qualified Pilates Instructor and was awarded a Gold Accreditation from the ACPSM (Association of Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine). Rosie also has over 10 years of specialist Sports Experience, working with GB and England Hockey, GB Table Tennis, GB Bobsleigh, GB Masters Athletics, London Irish RFU and elite Triathletes and Marathon runners. She worked directly for the British Olympic Association at the European Youth Olympics, the World Youth Olympic and the World University Games, and was recently appointed as the Physiotherapist for the GB U21 Men’s Hockey. Rosie will also be heading to Beijing with the British Paralympic Team. “I honestly love my job. I am passionate about Sports Medicine; not only because of its effectiveness to rehabilitate a client back to sport, but also because of its important role in good health, pain and injury prevention. Over the past 10 years I have been lucky enough to work in a wide variety of elite sports both at the National and International Levels. This has given me great insight into the management and rehabilitation of elite sports injuries. Having all the specialists onsite at Pure Sports Medicine is an incredibly advantageous team environment where everybody benefits – particularly the client. However, I equally enjoy working with the less elite amongst us. Getting someone pain free and back to normal life is an immensely rewarding and motivating experience for me. Education is a very important part of our role in your rehabilitation; teaching you about your injury, including what you can do to help its recovery and what you can do to prevent it from occurring again, is the key for a successful outcome. I am especially interested in the later stages of rehabilitation and returning the client to full pre-injury activity, whether that be walking the dog or playing for their country. I love meeting people from different walks of life and everyday I
learn something new from the people of London. I am a self confessed Adrenaline
Junkie, whether that be jumping out of a helicopter with skis on or throwing
myself down a Bobsleigh run – I’ll have a go at anything! I enjoy travelling
the world, meeting people and good music. I am a keen sports participant
who has represented her country in 2 sports, and I still enjoy skiing, sailing
and getting grubby. My (only) vice…White Wine!” |
