Henrietta Bailey, Specialist Nutritional Therapist“Good nutrition is extremely vital and effective… I am passionate about being able to pass on my nutritional knowledge to empower and motivate others to take their health back into their own hands so they can reach their personal best” Following University and an initial career in Corporate PR in the City of London Henrietta opted to change paths and re-qualified to gain a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy from Raworth International College. She is also registered with the CNHC (Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council) and BANT (British Association for Nutritional Therapy). Henrietta currently works full-time within the Pure Sports Medicine Team as an enthusiastic and knowledgeable practitioner. Since qualifying she has discovered a keen interest in the area of sports nutrition and has worked with a number professional sports people from the fields of rowing, golf, cycling, triathlon and marathon running. She has also contributed regularly as part of the expert panel in publications such as Sport and Women’s Fitness. “My route to becoming a Nutritional Therapist stemmed from an interest in healthy eating and fitness passed down from equally inspired family members and early competitive sports. This was later coupled with first hand experience of the power of food in healing and nurturing a then slightly fragile body back to full health. Now I am passionate about being able to pass on my nutritional knowledge to empower and motivate others to take their health back into their own hands so they can reach their personal best. Good nutrition is extremely vital and effective and even changing the smallest dietary habits can produce significant and sometimes instant results - although sadly in today’s busy world a balanced diet is too often overlooked. Working with athletes has shown me the grit and determination that people have in striving to be the best in their chosen sport and the level at which they choose to compete. The diligence and discipline that athletes dedicate to their goals is inspiring and in my role it is a privilege to support them and help to keep their diets as interesting and varied as they can be along the way. This translates very easily to the general population, from those who are serious about their sport to the “ordinary” individual who may require nutritional advice on anything from improving energy levels, help with lowering cholesterol levels, diabetes, overcoming obesity and stress to those preparing their bodies ready to start a family. It is a rewarding and challenging vocation in many ways and I thrive on being a cog in the wheel in aiding people to achieve their sports or lifestyle dreams. Outside of work I enjoy spending my time with my family- especially my two fun and increasingly more cheeky nephews, my friends and generally living an active London life. As hobbies I love to travel, enjoy various sports such as tennis, golf and skiing, practise yoga and of course enjoy plenty of good nutritious food” |
