“…how critical movement is. It is how we express our body, our emotions, and our mind. This is what I love most about physiotherapy, working with people to help them to fluently achieve these goals.”

I first became interested in physiotherapy after sustaining a neck injury while snowboarding. This was the first genuinely debilitating injury that I had ever suffered, and it was fascinating to experience how skilled hands and the correct exercises helped me to regain full function and return to the sport that I loved. During the time I spent laid up with injury, I realised how critical movement is. It is how we express our body, our emotions, and our mind. This is what I love most about physiotherapy, working with people to help them to fluently achieve these goals.

I initially trained in sports and remedial massage in the USA, later going on to study neuromuscular therapy. While in the US I worked at the Touch Research Institute, based at the University of Miami School of Medicine, researching soft-tissue approaches to common musculoskeletal conditions.

After returning to the UK I studied for my undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy at Brunel University, graduating with first class honours. I am currently studying part-time for my MSc in advanced physiotherapy, and I continue to maintain a keen interest in all aspects of musculoskeletal dysfunction and sports medicine.

My professional activities now include working with the British Judo squad; often travelling to international tournaments with the team, and working as an orthopaedic extended scope practitioner; performing diagnostics and triage within the health service. Through my love of winter sports I also maintain a strong professional interest in snowboarding and skiing.
