Ben McChesney, Specialist Sports Osteopath

‘The intervention that achieves successful rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions often requires a combined approach utililzing myofascial release techniques, joint mobilisation, dry needling, exercise rehabilitation and other technique modalities depending on your individual presentation’

Ben McChesney graduated from RMIT University in Melbourne in 2002 after completing a 5 year double Bachelor course in Osteopathy. During the course he was involved in sports trainer work within an amateur Australian Rules Football. Following the Osteopathy course Ben worked in Melbourne based Osteopathic clinics treating musculoskeletal disorders in both members of the general public and some athletic populations. In 2006 Ben moved to London where he became involved with industry based manual handling training and risk assessment, alongside continued clinical work in a London based practice and lecturing at the British College Of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM).

In 2008 Ben began a part time Masters of Sport and Exercise Rehabilitation at St Mary’s University College in Twickenham which he will complete in early 2010. In 2008 he was involved in the rehabilitation of one of the America’s Cup yachtsmen aboard the winning team ‘Allinghi’.  Ben has been working throughout 2009 with the Academy team at Fulham Football Club, assisting in the rehabilitation and preventative training of players. He also works part time with the Harrods Occupational health department.

Ben has been part of the team at Pure Sports Medicine in Kensington since March 2009. Osteopathy is an approach that seeks the cause of dysfunction using a combination of global movement and biomechanical assessment with local palpation and tests to determine both the ‘tissue causing pain’ and the overall body mechanics and compensations that may contribute to and maintain that dysfunction. The intervention that achieves successful rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions often requires a combined approach utililzing myofascial release techniques, joint mobilisation, dry needling, exercise rehabilitation and other technique modalities depending on your individual presentation.

Ben enjoys interacting with people, helping them to improve their function and work towards achieving their goals.
