"Who would have thought that being as injury prone as I have been throughout my rugby career could ever have been of any use at all to anyone?"

Andrew is an Australian who has played rugby for New South Wales and the Australian Sevens and Barbarians teams. Andrew simultaneously worked as a financial markets trader for 8 years where he was Treasury Manager, Foreign Exchange and Media Representative. He left Sydney in October 2001 to pursue a scholarship at Oxford University, studying on the MBA programme. It was during his time at Oxford that he first came up with the idea for Pure Sports Medicine.

"Who would have thought that being as injury prone as I have been throughout my rugby career could ever have been of any use at all to anyone? Clearly, I just wasn't physically put together to play rugby. But as it turned out, experiencing intense medical treatment over many years in my quest to play to my potential - or often just to simply play - gave me invaluable insight into how an athlete and a patient feels when they are injured or performing below their own standards.

The most wonderful thing about sport for me has been the rewards of the team environment. The team is composed of not just those that play by your side, but all of those that support you along the way; administrators, coaches, friends, fans, and medical staff. This broader context taught me a lot about selflessness, courage in the face of adversity, and unconditional commitment to a common goal. The best teams have these qualities, in sport and in life, and these are the qualities that we are constantly striving to demonstrate at Pure.

I'm an intense and competitive person, and I work hard to achieve my goals - sometimes at the expense of the things I value most in life. I have a fondness for new challenges, a need to be active and a love of being near my friends and the ocean."
