Sports Injuries

Sports injuries are commonly caused by overuse, direct impact, or an application of force that is greater than the body can structurally withstand. Whether your sports injury is acute or chronic, if pain persists, we recommended coming to see one of our Specialists.

An injury that occurs as a direct result of a sudden event, such as a twisted knee, is called an acute injury. In contrast, an injury that is caused by overusing the same muscle group or joints, is called a chronic injury.

Many of the common sports injuries we treat are: ankle sprains, Achilles tendonitis, back pain, concussion, groin strain, hamstring strain, knee joint injury, runner’s knee, shin splints, shoulder injury, stress fracture, and tennis/golf elbow.

Poor fitness, technique and structural abnormalities can also contribute to the development of sports injuries. We encourage screenings for physiological weaknesses that may lead to injury, and recommend working along side a Physiotherapist or Performance Coach in order to eliminate them.
